Leslie and I on Kubwa .jpg
Yes, I have ridden on an elephant bareback! It's like trying to do the splits. (And, yes, I am sticking my tongue out at the camera.) I'm riding Kubwa, the first ever African Elephant to be artificially knocked-up. The baby Amali was successfully carried to term, but a few years into her adolescence she succumbed to a virus. Because David's dad works in large mammals at the Indianapolis Zoo, I was fortunate enough visit and interact with Amali. Baby elephants are damn cute!
