This weekend.

It was the weekend of the generally odd. Nothing happened that I can point at and say, "This. This was just not right." It was just that lots of things happened that were within the realms of possibility, but... not quite normal.

Examples:

Murphy strikes. I was digging through my storage locker, looking. Looking for tax forms and gaming supplies. The tax forms being important. Found gaming supplies in the first box I opened. Found the tax forms in the very last box possible for me to check, under heavy things that broke when I moved them.

The wacky 50's IRS. The IRS seems to be going overboard on their "we're friendly! really!" campaign. At the bottom of the "Tax information for you" page, featuring all sorts of random tax stuff, there's... "Braintaxer. Test your knowledge of the Statute of Limitations on this fun and interactive on-line game." It's very... odd. There's this wierd 50's / psychadelic / televangelist feel to it. Very colorful. If you're successful, you win clouds (ranging from "fluffy clouds", if you "fluffed it", to "cloud 9"). The way it works, there are 3 sets of questions, each tied to a name. And here they go stereotyped, as the names are C. P. Abramson (detailed tax information questions), Juanita Sanchez (questions about filing your tax information 3 years late), and Leon Yardly (questions which are amazingly easy with obvious answers). All very odd. On the other hand, their big "do your taxes - online!" campaign seems to boil down to allowing you to either use tax preparation software, a tax preparer, or go by phone - the phone number for which was nearly impossible to find. The IRS amuses yet frightens me. (Hi, guys.)

Speaking of which. I owed california $14. The federal government owed me $28. It's all happy.

Covert Ford. We passed it. They were right out in the open. I figure they deal with big austin mafiosos.

There may have been more.
